''Der Einzige und sein Eigentum (The Ego and His Own)''

oil on canvas -  91,4 x 122 cm

My ego is property of my own and of nobody else. I do not belong to any country, family or religion. I belong to myself and I am the only owner of me.

A group of people, in any form (country, society, family, religion), is consisted of individuals and it depends its existence on those. Therefore, it cannot exist without the individuals. On contrary the individual does exist without it.

The title of this artwork is from Max Stirner's homonymous book ''Der Einzige und sein Eigentum'' (translation ''The Ego and His Own''), first published in 1844.

Nobody owns nothing... Not even him/herself

if you do not own yourself, then you do not substantially exist...there is no difference between a machine and yourself

Ownership is a term-situation developed to describe human actions and relations. Why to correlate it with substantial existence? Does this mean that there is no existence without human's mind?

Me, Myself and I said...

there is physical and there is noetic existence...s stone exists, that objective, it is physical it does exist, nobody can doubt that...

but i exist and I own myself, I do actions, exactly because i and all my characteristics are the property of myself, biologically speaking.

the issue is the social existence, this is where, according to stirner, we just belong to ourselves and to nobody else

You can own a stone but you cannot own your characteristics of your personality cause they are not depended just by your mind or will. They are subjective to your genes, your behavior and to outside factors. That means your you, your existence stays the same but at the same time changes whether you want it or not. So how come such a blur existence can own it's own shaky existence? It exists but it does not own it.

It is one thing to have your own thoughts, to control your actions, to exist and another thing to say you are owning your existence.

Ownership begins and ends up with human calculation and exploitation. Existence is far more complicated to be constrained within a narrow term such as ownership...

Me, Myself and I said...

i do own my characteristics, to the scale someone can own them, of course not 100%. But I own the 100% of the percentage that can be owned. on the other hand i do not own my creation, if this can be said

as said before, i am mainly referring the our existence as social beings under other people, under the state, under the religion, under the family etc.

other than that, agreed, existence is much more complicated.

I guess that the words are the word "I" in many many different languajes...
Knowing that, where is it in Spanish? Since "I" in Spanish is "yo", and I cannot find it...

Apart from that. Nice painting, and nice reflexion, the book seems to be interesting...
